Student representation

According to the legislation in force (LEN no. 1/2011), the elections of the representative students are democratically to all levels study, the vote being universal, direct and secret for all members. Student organizations I can have legal delegates in university structures. University leadership not is involved in the process of electing student representatives and not may condition the status of representative student. The term of office of the representative students is regulated by the University Charter.

Also, Code of Student Rights and Obligations (OM 3666/2012), provides that a student not can have the quality of student representative in the decision-making structures of the university for more than 4 years. The number of delegates of student organizations in the university structures is established on the basis of university autonomy.

Representative students have the role of representing students and their interests in the decision-making structures of which they are part and of informing students about the decisions taken within these structures.

For all the representation functions within the universities, respectively the faculties, there must be a regulations transparent, democratic and fair choice of student representatives.

This regulation must contain:

  • description of how to choose for each position;
  • how the application file can be submitted and what it should contain;
  • election period;
  • the duties of each function and the duration of the term of office;
  • the way of reporting the activity of the representative students;
  • the manner of dismissal of the representative students, in case they do not fulfill their attributions.
